The End of Winter

Although it will be several more weeks until the valley truly thaws, we have finally reached the end of what I refer to as “Deep Winter.” Deep Winter is that period of time when the excitement of the holidays has passed, but spring still feels miles away. It affects everyone differently, but for me it is generally a time of hunkering down and regrouping after the busy social calendar that seems to stretch from Halloween until New Year’s Day. And by “regrouping,” I mean laying low, shoveling snow, complaining about the cold, and going into a general funk as the cold and darkness of winter really sets in. But, the good news is…I’ve decided to declare Deep Winter officially over! If you’ve found yourself in a similar slump, now is the time to get out and enjoy the lengthening daylight hours that signal Spring’s eventual arrival.
