God’s Country
God’s Country
by: Monica Archer
I grew up in Boise, Idaho and my dad would take me fishing and camping as a child. I always enjoyed it, but as an adult I moved to Phoenix, Arizona. I married a guy who used to live in Colorado. We have 3 boys who have lived in Phoenix all their lives. We decided to take a vacation to Idaho in the summer so they could see where I grew up. I have a good friend from college who lives in Salmon so we decided to visit and spend a couple of days with her. I had never been to Salmon before, but I will surely be back. It is so beautiful and peaceful! It is truly God’s country. If you love the outdoors, this is the place to be for fishing, hiking, biking, white water rafting, hunting, etc. My kids went fishing for the first time and caught so many rainbow trout which we ate for dinner. We went hiking and biking and my kids loved the mountains and all the trees. The highlight of our trip was rafting down the Salmon River and seeing all the stars at night. We want to come back again in the winter and let our kids try skiing. There is so much to offer if you love the outdoors as much as we do.
