Autumn Approaches

Salmon, Idaho Fall mountains

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

-L.M. Montgomery

Fall is officially here—my social media feeds are inundated with pumpkin-spiced everything and my voicemail box is full of relatives asking about my Thanksgiving plans. Already! Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there is still plenty to do here in the valley before we wade into the approaching holiday fervour.

he Lost Trail Ski Patrol Annual Gear Swap

As the snowline creeps down the Beaverheads, thoughts are quickly turning to snow sports. Although opening day at Lost Trail Ski Area is over a month out, the time to prepare is now. The Lost Trail Ski Patrol Annual Gear Swap is at Sweetwater Hollow on Saturday, November 2 from 9:00 AM-noon. Gear drop off is the night before, so swing by and grab a beer while watching a selection of this season’s ski films.

Salmon also has several upcoming seasonal events. On Saturday, October 19, Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch will host pumpkin picking from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at 123 Highway 93. Fall also brings hunting season, and the Salmon River Mule Foundation Chapter will be hosting themed trivia at the Pork Peddler on October 23 at 7:00 PM.

Whiskey Willie’s will be celebrating Halloween into the weekend with a costume contest on Friday, November 1. For those of you who insist on starting the holiday season at the first chill in the air, Purple Easel Gallery will be hosting a Christmas Ornament Workshop at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 19.

Resist the urge to sink into early hibernation, and I hope to see you at these or other fall festivities. Keep an eye on the blog for upcoming events throughout the winter a www.visitsalmonvalley.com
